Adam Randall, a former four-star recruit hailing from Myrtle Beach, SC, and standing tall at 6'3 and 225 pounds, looks to make waves for Clemson's football program entering his sophomore season. Following another fall practice session on Tuesday, Randall shared his insights with the media about the Tigers' transition to Garrett Riley's dynamic air raid offense.

Randall, a standout player since high school, emphasized the competitive spirit between the offense and defense during practices.

"It's been great just going out there and being competitive with each other," he noted. "Making each other better. Going against some incredibly good corners every day. We are pushing each other. I feel like every day we go out there, we are playing against the best corners and the best team in the nation, and that makes us stronger."

Facing a formidable defense is no easy task, but Randall appreciates the intensity the defense brings each day. "I appreciate the defense coming out there with the same mindset every day and getting after us like they would any other team," he said.

As the Tigers gear up for the upcoming season, Randall shed light on the identity of the new offense under Riley's guidance.

"This offense's identity is probably going to be really fast. We've got a lot of fast guys," he remarked. The team has put in the work during the summer, focusing on speed training to enhance their performance on the field. "Coach Swinney has said a couple of times that this is one of the fastest teams he's had in the last couple of years," Randall added, recalling instances where over ten players hit speeds exceeding 20 miles per hour.

“Coach Riley brings that mindset of just going out there and balling, playing free, within the confines of the offense.”

Regarding Riley's offensive strategies, Randall expressed his admiration for the approach that the offensive scheme brings to each player.

"Coach Riley brings that mindset of just going out there and balling, playing free, within the confines of the offense," he stated. The offense is designed to move the ball down the field efficiently while giving players the freedom to showcase their skills.

Randall's journey into the air raid system began even before this fall's training camp. He reminisced about the initial introduction during spring scrimmages and watching it flourish from the sidelines.

"I don't even think it started like this fall camp," he recalled. "When we did our first scrimmage in spring and me and Beaux weren't playing, we were just going out there and moving the ball up and down the field without me and Beaux." Randall was amazed by Riley's offensive acumen as he witnessed the system's effectiveness firsthand.

Having played in an air raid offense during his time at Myrtle Beach High School, Randall has a deep appreciation for the style. "I played an air raid, so I'm just a fan of the air raid offense and just going out there and swinging the ball around," he admitted. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of having talented running backs like Phil Mafah and Will Shipley to complement the passing game.

Randall emphasized the importance of understanding both offensive and defensive concepts on the football field. "Knowing the playbook and investing in it," he said, "I feel like you've seen it work at TCU, so I felt like, why wouldn't it work here? If we invest in a playbook and we just go out there and execute it on game day."

Regarding the tempo under Riley, Randall shared his enthusiasm for the fast-paced approach.

"I think the tempo, we've also incorporated some periods of tempo—going good on good," he explained. Riley's deep understanding of the plays allows him to swiftly call out the strategies, ensuring the team is lined up and ready to execute with precision.

During the transition, Randall and his fellow receivers have been focusing on making crucial plays. "Just going up there and making plays, I feel like we've done a really good job," he commented. Randall highlighted Coach Riley's advice on turning 50/50 plays into 80/20 opportunities by maintaining focus and catching the ball over the shoulder.

With excitement radiating from Randall's words, it's evident that Clemson's offense is poised for a solid season with the new air raid offense under the guidance of Garrett Riley. As the Tigers prepare to take the field, Randall's insights provide a glimpse into the strategies and mindset that will define their upcoming season.
