Five-Star Quarterback Trevor Lawrence Signs With Tigers

Five-star quarterback and number one overall prospect Trevor Lawrence‍ signed with the Tigers today, giving Clemson the number one quarterback prospect in back-to-back seasons.

Clemson freshman Hunter Johnson was the number one quarterback in last year's class. 

Lawrence (Cartersville High, Cartersville, GA) was a steal from the state of Georgia. The 6'6", 208-pound prospect makes the quarterback competition much more intriguing as many expect him to compete immediately.

Lawrence broke former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson's Georgia State High School records for passing yards and career touchdowns. He committed to the Tigers in December of 2016 and has been solid with the Tigers throughout the process.

Lawrence is a tall, long player who has room to add some bulk. He is an incredibly smart quarterback who is able to very quickly go through his progressions and find the right read. 

His delivery is quick, and yet the ball almost explodes off his hand as he is able to drive the ball into tight spots.

He's also a better athlete than he's given credit for. While not the runner of a Deshaun Watson or Kelly Bryant, he can extend plays as well as any quarterback. His physical tools are special, and pairing that with his smarts is a scary proposition for defenses.
