Clemson's Preseason Depth Chart
Clemson's released the depth chart heading into the preseason a little bit ago. We've already taken that information and updated ClemsonSportsTalk.com's depth chart for you.
- Clemson has 61 returning lettermen, most in school history.
- The Tigers have 17 returning starters including the punter and placekicker positions. The only teams in Clemson history that have had more are the 1977, 1981 and 1988 Clemson teams that had 18.
- Fourteen of the players listed on the depth chart already have their undergrad degrees from Clemson. There are 20 seniors or graduate students listed.
- Clemson has three returning defensive linemen who have been named already been named a first-team All-American earlier in their career by one of the five major All-American services (AP, AFCA, Walter Camp, Sporting News, Football Writers). Those players are Christian Wilkins (two time All-American), Clelin Ferrell and Austin Bryant. Dexter Lawrence has been a second-team selection previously.
- Clemson’s returning defensive line is the first in NCAA history to have four returning players who have been a first or second-team All-American previously.
- Clemson’s four returning starters on the defensive line have combined for 47 sacks, 89.5 tackles for loss, and 533 tackles.
- Forty-four players on Clemson’s roster have experience playing in at least one College Football Playoff game. Seniors Christian Wilkins, Hunter Renfrow, and Mitch Hyatt have each played on offensive or defensive snaps in five CFP games.
- Clemson has eight returning letterman wide receivers.
- Clemson’s starting offensive line on the depth chart has played a combined 149 games with 76 starts.
- Clemson’s returning starting defensive line has played in 136 games with 96 combined starts.
The players listed on the depth chart as starters or co-starters are from 10 different states. The state distribution:

Twelve returning Clemson players listed on the depth chart have made an All-ACC team previously. That includes six players (Mitch Hyatt, Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence and Greg Huegel), who have been named an All-American. This is the first time Clemson has had six returning players on its roster who have earned All-America honors.
