Overmatched is an understatement. The Tigers continued to do their thing on defense in this one, this time against a triple-option team.

-The Tigers had no sacks in this one but did rack up 10 tackles for loss. The triple-option prevented the Tigers from getting to the quarterback, but it couldn’t prevent them from blowing things up at the line and getting into the backfield.

-One guy who really stood out was Jake Venables. Venables was all over the place, making eight tackles and three and a half tackles for loss. He showed a certain level of aggressiveness that one would expect from the son of Brent Venables as well.

He had one play in the second quarter where he lifted the back for Wofford and slammed him to the ground, shades of The Rock’s finisher, the Rock Bottom. The nastiness out of Rudolph is fun to watch.

-Speaking of aggressiveness, Logan Rudolph has been on fire the past few weeks. He had one play in the second quarter where he lifted the back for Wofford and slammed him to the ground, shades of The Rock’s finisher, the Rock Bottom. The nastiness out of Rudolph is fun to watch.

-A few teachable moments in this one as well, which Brent Venables will love to have. Wofford had a seven-play, 65-yard drive in the third quarter where Clemson failed to set the edge and the Terriers were able to get to the outside. They capped it with a 20-yard run in which no one got down to take the pitch man, and the Terriers essentially walled off the Tigers’ defense. The younger guys are going to learn better discipline from that drive alone.

-As good as Nolan Turner has been, he bit on some deep balls a couple of times. One time came in the first quarter, in which he came down to take the run and couldn’t get back to recover, but Wofford couldn’t connect. The second one came in the third quarter, where he bit on a double move. This time, Wofford finished the play and secured a 79-yard touchdown.

-The drama continues in the kicking game, as Potter missed a 35-yard field goal. He did bounce back with a 35-yard field goal on the next drive, but the Tigers need to find some consistency in the kicking game.

That’s all for this week.
