Gut Punch: Travis Etienne's rookie year sidelined with a season-ending foot injury

Most of the focus in the Monday Night preseason matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints was centralized on the quarterback battles between former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Gardner Minshew for the Jaguars starting job and Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill for the Saints' but less than 24 hours later, Jaguars and former Clemson running back Travis Etienne is grabbing the headlines.

Etienne, the ACC's all-time leading rusher, conspicuously limped to the sideline in the first half of the Jaguars 23-21 loss and was unable to return to the field.

He was later seen walking in the tunnel with a boot on his left foot and according to multiple reports, the 25th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft will undergo surgery for a Lisfranc injury.

Etienne will miss his rookie season after being placed on injured reserve.

With the Jaguars placing him on IR before cutting the roster to 53, Etienne won't be allowed to play in 2021.

Etienne left the game after one carry for one yard and a 3-yard reception.
