The Storylines

Under Head Coach Dabo Swinney, Clemson has annually pursued five stated goals: 1) Win the opener, 2) win the division, 3) win the state championship, 4) win the ACC Championship and 5) win the closer. Clemson has already accomplished goals one and two and will attempt to add goals three and four over the next two weeks.

"Our regular season is over, if you will," Swinney said immediately following Clemson's win against Miami (Fla.) last week. "South Carolina is a goal of its own for us, a season of its own. It's that time." A year ago, Clemson shut out South Carolina, 30-0, to extend the Tigers' current winning streak in the series to seven games, matching Clemson's seven-game streak from 1934-40 for the longest streak by either team in series history.

A win on Saturday would make Clemson the first team on either side of the rivalry to win eight consecutive games in the series

Spencer Rattler throws it to the sideline and the ball falls incomplete. Clemson will have one timeout with 2:22 left in the game, trailing 31-30. A field goal can win it for the Tigers.

That was a tough one.

On one hand, I believe Dabo needed this loss to take a step back and see if his loyalty to individuals is interfering with his loyalty to the team. I don't necessarily mean DJU but coaching responsibilities as well. Scheme is just as much to blame, along with overthrows, drops, and a leaky secondary.

On the other hand, I am thankful to have another 10 win year with the chance to make it 11 or 12, with the ability to gripe about not making the CFP but still having more wins than most.
