The Storylines

After a short turnaround following a Labor Day night victory in their season opener, the Clemson Tigers will return to Death Valley for their 2022 home opener when they host the Furman Paladins on Saturday, Sept. 10. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.

On Monday, Clemson opened the season by rattling off 27 unanswered second-half points to earn a 41-10 win against Georgia Tech. Clemson has now won 12 of its last 14 season openers.

While eyes will be on the action on the field, don't be surprised when heads turn east between plays, as Saturday's contest will represent the debut of Clemson’s new videoboard with nearly five times the surface area of the previous board, which was last updated before the 2012 season. The new video system, affectionately and unofficially nicknamed "DaboTron," measures 127 feet wide by 57 feet tall (more than 7,000 square feet in total) and sits 20 feet off the ground, giving fans a 365-day open view into the stadium. Ribbon boards on the north, south, and west, along with new corner video boards in the west, have also been upgraded to be higher quality, easier to read, and more immersive.

We have kicked off in Clemson and Will Shipley punches it in from 1-yard out on a 7-play, 75 yard opening drive. Clemson leads Furman 7-0 with 11:46 in the first.

Solid opening drive with one big completion to Beaux Collins on that drive.

Will Shipley took it on the counter and made a move right into the end zone. DJU made an impressive to Davis Allen earlier on that drive. 3 for 3 on scoring drives for the Tigers today.

Furman is moving the ball on Clemson's defense -- Tyler Huff made a completion to Ryan Miller that was ruled a fumble on the field but it is being reviewed. Fred Davis recovered it for Clemson.

Klubnik and the Clemson offense go three-and-out. The freshman from Westlake, Texas tried to scramble to his right but was tackled by Alex Maier for a two yard loss. 3:08 to play before the half -- Tigers up 21-3 in Death Valley.

Touchdown Furman -- Hough connects with Ryan Miller on a 25-yard TD reception. The Paladins have over 200 yards of offense and are making it look easy against Clemson's defense. XP is missed.

Kobe Pace runs it in for a 1-yard score in a drive that lasted less than 90 seconds. Clemson's lead extends to 28-9 with 26 seconds left before the half.

Antonio Williams made an acrobatic grab on the drive -- that was his 2nd catch on the day.

HALF: Clemson 28, Furman 9

Tigers looked really efficient on offense with 4 touchdowns on 5 possessions. The defense left a little bit to be desired as they were unable to slow down the screens and intermediate throws so that'll be something Wes Goodwin and the Clemson defensive staff will want to clean up.
