Clemson landed a significant recruiting victory on a weekend packed with official visitors, as 2027 wide receiver Julian Cromartie announced his commitment on Friday during his official visit to campus. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect from College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas, gives the Tigers another promising offensive playmaker for the future.
Cromartie is the son of former Florida State standout and NFL veteran Antonio Cromartie, who played for the Seminoles from 2003-05 before being selected 19th overall by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
The Texas standout committed before completing the remainder of his official visit schedule. Kansas hosted Cromartie on May 1, while visits to Kentucky on June 5 and Arkansas on June 12 were still planned. Clemson's coaching staff made enough of an impression during this weekend's trip to secure his pledge ahead of those visits.
A physically imposing receiver with impressive athletic traits, Cromartie recently recorded a 4.52-second 40-yard dash and a 10-foot, 7.5-inch broad jump. His combination of size, speed and explosiveness has helped him emerge as one of the more intriguing wide receiver prospects in the 2027 class.
Last season, Cromartie totaled 42 receptions for 823 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging nearly 20 yards per catch. Several performances showcased his big-play ability, including a dominant outing against Klein Cain High School when he caught nine passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
He also delivered a standout performance against The Woodlands High School, finishing with six receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Cromartie is currently rated as the No. 123 wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting class. Despite that ranking, his blend of size, production, athleticism and NFL bloodlines suggests his stock could continue to rise as his high school career progresses.
Head coach Dabo Swinney and wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham prioritized Cromartie to add length in a class that includes receivers Jamarin Simmons (5'11) and Trey Wimbley (6'0).
The commitment continues a strong start for Clemson's 2027 class, which now stands at 14 pledges.
