The Storylines

Clemson and Tennessee meet to wrap up the 2022 season on Friday night in South Florida. Tigers freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik will make his first career start against the Volunteers. This is after earning ACC Championship Game Most Valuable Player honors for his sterling performance in reserve against North Carolina. Klubnik will become the first Clemson quarterback to make his starting debut in a postseason game since Clemson abandoned the single-wing offense in favor of the T-formation in 1953.

Since 2022, Clemson quarterbacks are 9-2 in the first career starts with wins by Charlie Whitehurst, Will Proctor, Cullen Harper, Kyle Parker, Tajh Boyd, Deshaun Watson, Kelly Bryant, Trevor Lawrence and DJ Uiagalelei.

Touchdown Vols. Joe Milton connects with Bru McCoy for the 16-yard TD on the post route. Great route and great throw from Milton.

7-0 Vols with 5:17 to play in the 1Q after an 11-play, 75 yard drive after the Tigers failed fake FG attempt.

Nice to see Klubnik go to Allen early in this drive. He's been under-utilized in some big games this season. It would be great to see Allen get going early today.

And the 55-yard FG from B.T. Potter is no good. Clemson comes up empty. 3:05 to play in the first. Tennessee up 7-0.

Wade Woodaz immediately gets into the backfield on the inside run to get the 3rd down stop. Vols will punt and Tigers get the ball back with 1:37 to play in the opening quarter. Vols lead 7-0.

Tigers moving the ball well inside Vol territory. Let's see if they can finish this one off with points. I like what I've seen from Joseph Ngata so far tonight. 2 catches for 26 yards.
